How soon can I get in to see the doctor? Appointments can be scheduled within a 1-2 week time frame, and often times much sooner.
Will I need a referral? Depending on what type of insurance you have, you will need a referral from your primary care physician. You can call your PCP to find out. If you do need a referral, most PCP offices require 7-10 days to complete the referral.
Will I have to pay anything when I am seen? If your insurance requires you pay a flat or percentage co-pay or co-insurance, payment will be expected at the time of your visit. Flat co-pays would be $5, $10, $15, etc. Percentage co-pays or co-insurance are usually more. The actual percentage amount cannot be determined until the bill has been sent out and the insurance payment has been received in our office. In this case a minimum payment of $50 will need to be made toward the balance at the time you are seen. You would then receive a bill for any balance owed toward this percentage. If you are receiving a procedure that is not covered by insurance (i.e. acupuncture, IMS, cupping, etc), full payment is expected at the time of your visit. In addition, there are miscellaneous fees for letters and forms that need to be completed. Please inquire with the receptionist as to what these fees may be.
Do you have age restrictions on patients you will see? Yes. Patients must be age 12 or older.
I have had x-rays, MRI, and CT scan performed previously. Do I need to bring these films to the appointment? No. We only need the report from the study. You may bring this with you if you have a copy, or have the facility that performed the test fax the results to us. Our fax number is (586) 563-3313.
Another physician referred me to have a specific procedure performed, will this be done during my first visit? No. Procedures are not performed during your initial evaluation or during any subsequent follow-up evaluations. Procedures are scheduled separately from office visits.
How soon will the report from my visit be sent to the doctor that referred me? Our office utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR), which means your reports are generally completed before you leave our office or very shortly after. The report is then faxed directly from our computer system to the doctor that referred you within 1-3 days.
My doctor referred me to have an EMG study performed. Is this painful? You should expect some level of discomfort. Click here for more information on EMG/NCS studies.
I'm afraid of needles, but want to have acupuncture performed. Do the needles hurt? Acupuncture needles should not be painful. They are about the size of one human hair, very thin and fine. Acupuncture needles are much smaller than the needles used to draw blood or give injections. Click here for more information on acupuncture.
